CASE STUDY
Client: BNP Paribas Poland
Project: web redesign for recruitment and attracting talent – joinbnpparibas.pl
Timeline: 6 months (2024)
Team: UX/UI designer (myself), frontend and backend developers, content creator, project manager
Problem:
BNP Paribas Poland, a major player in the banking industry, needed a career website that would both attract top talent and reflect their commitment to diversity, inclusion, and career growth. The goal was to create a user-friendly platform that enables job seekers to explore opportunities while showcasing BNP Paribas’ values. This case study outlines the steps taken to design a responsive, engaging, and informative career portal that highlights the company’s strengths and makes the job search process intuitive and enjoyable.
1. Research & discovery
Research:
The project began with an in-depth research phase. I collaborated closely with BNP Paribas to understand their goals, target audience, and competitors. The key insights from this phase included:
•Target Audience: The audience ranged from entry-level graduates to experienced professionals.
•Company Culture: BNP Paribas wanted to emphasize their diverse workforce, inclusive culture, and career development opportunities.
•Competitor Analysis: We studied other career websites to identify best practices and areas for innovation.
The findings helped me establish key design elements: simplicity, trust, and a professional but approachable tone.
2. Wireframing & User Flow Mapping
Next, I created wireframes to outline the structure of the website and user flow. The goal was to ensure that job seekers could:
•Easily Navigate: Simple, intuitive menu options for exploring jobs, company culture, and recruitment process.
•Search Jobs Efficiently: Advanced filtering options (e.g., location, job category) for a quick job search.
•Learn About the Company: A well-defined section dedicated to BNP Paribas’ values, employee stories, and diversity initiatives.
User flow diagrams helped in optimizing the journey from the homepage to job application completion, ensuring minimal friction and ease of access to important information.
3. UI Design – Visual and Brand Consistency
Once wireframes were approved, I moved on to UI design, ensuring the BNP Paribas brand identity was prominent while maintaining a modern and clean look.
•Color Palette: BNP Paribas’ signature colors were used, with soft contrasts to enhance readability. The green and blue shades symbolize trust, professionalism, and growth.
•Imagery: High-quality images were selected that represented the company’s diverse team, professional work environment, and modern office spaces. Employee testimonials were visually enhanced with icons and clean typography.
•Interactive Elements: Subtle hover effects, dropdown menus, and transitions were added to guide the user smoothly through the site without overwhelming them.
4. Responsive Design
Mobile optimization was a critical focus, as many users would access the site from their smartphones. I employed a responsive design strategy:
•Flexible Grids: Ensured content adapted to various screen sizes without losing clarity.
•Touch-friendly UI: Large buttons and spacing allowed for easy navigation on mobile devices.
•Mobile-Specific Features: Implemented mobile-friendly job filters and swipe-based navigation for certain sections, creating a more engaging experience.
Conclusions
The project was a success, achieving the following key results:
•Increased Traffic: The site saw a 30% increase in visitors within the first three months of launch.
•Higher Application Rates: User-friendly job search features led to a 20% rise in job applications.
•Improved Engagement: With visual storytelling and interactive elements, users spent 40% more time on the site, engaging with employee stories and company culture pages.
•Positive User Feedback: User testing revealed high satisfaction with navigation simplicity and overall user experience.
