CASE STUDY
This one was to design a fully responsive e-commerce website for a retailer of refurbished Apple products, based in Barcelona.
Problem:
CiscoMac’s website was outdated and didn’t provide an optimal user experience. The website had a cluttered layout, and the navigation was confusing, leading to a high bounce rate. The website’s design didn’t reflect the brand’s values, and the website’s structure was not optimized for search engines, making it challenging to attract new customers. The client wanted to redesign their website to create a better user experience and increase sales.
Research and goal
Research: I conducted extensive research on the latest design trends and best practices in the e-commerce industry. I also analyzed CiscoMac’s competitors’ websites to identify design patterns and features that could improve the user experience. This research helped us to develop a design strategy that was tailored to CiscoMac’s needs and goals.
Goals: Throughout my research with a targeted group I found out what stands below:
- The website should have a simple and clean design that reflects the brand and is easy to use.
- The navigation should be well-organized, easy to understand, and help users find products quickly.
- The website should provide clear and concise product information, including high-quality product images and videos, as well as specifications and compatibility information.
- The website should offer secure payment options and reassurance of customer data protection and privacy.
Wireframing
Conducting user research and testing is essential to understanding and addressing the needs and UX considerations of a particular target audience.
Wireframes: Based on the research and user persona, I created wireframes to map out the new website’s structure and layout. I focused on creating a simple and intuitive navigation system that would allow users to find the products they want quickly. We also worked on the website’s information architecture to ensure that the website’s structure was logical and easy to understand.
Branding
Design: Based on the wireframes, I created high-fidelity designs that reflected CiscoMac’s brand values. I used Apple’s design language to ensure the website looked cohesive and professional. I paid close attention to typography, colour, and layout to create a visually appealing and engaging website. I also focused on creating a responsive design that would provide an optimal user experience across all devices.
Result
The new design for CiscoMac’s website was well received by both the client and their customers. The new design improved the website’s user experience, resulting in a 40% increase in sales within the first six months. The website’s new structure made it easier for users to find the products they wanted, resulting in a lower bounce rate. The website’s improved search engine optimization also helped attract new customers to the website.
Conclusions
The new design for CiscoMac’s website improved the user experience and increased sales. The website’s new design reflected CiscoMac’s brand values and attracted new customers. The new design also made it easier for the client to manage the website’s content and improve the website’s search engine optimization. The client was thrilled with the results, and we continue to work with them to improve their online presence.
